Agoura Girls’ Tennis Season

Ranked third in the league, Agoura advanced to the playoffs once again! Overall, morale is high as we send off our beloved seniors and welcome the new class of freshmen.

“It’s been such a great season so far, we have so many new people that came,” comments Veorah Feddanich, the team’s #1 singles player. “I’m so excited for how playoffs and CIF are gonna go”.

“It’s been so amazing, everyone is so extremely nice,” adds freshman Nadia Zartoshty. “And we’re gonna win!”

“I think so far the season’s been pretty good; this is our third time going to playoffs”, reflects Kio Hatch. When asked about the seniors, she replies, “I’m really sad, I’ve known most of them since they were sophomores”.

Format of the CIF League:

Varsity has 3 doubles pairs and 3 singles players, and each team plays three “sets”. Each school matchup, 18 games played, 9 in singles and 9 in doubles. If a school ties 9-9, individual games within the set count towards the total.

A brief recap of the pre-season:

Aug. 29:

  • The Varsity team kicked off their season winning 14-4 against Viewpoint! Congrats to seniors Lauren Babaian and Kate Bamford, ultimately winning 18 sets and losing 0!
  • Unfortunately, Viewpoint didn’t bring their JV team.

Sept. 12:

  • Varsity earned a thrilling victory over Camarillo High, tied 9-9 in sets but winning in games.
  • JV swept, winning 5-0! Many players competed for the first time, including Dheekshaw Gopinath!

Sept. 13:

  • An assertive victory against Taft Charter initiated the team’s winning streak! Final score: 15-3. Congrats to sophomore Nola Rose for winning 6-0 against Taft’s #1 player!
  • Taft doesn’t have a JV team

Sept. 17:

  • Another Agoura victory against Moorpark! The school used their #1 singles player in doubles, but our sophomore doubles team Sophia Sokolsky and Lily Levy prevailed 7-5 in a nail-biting match.
  • JV won 8-0! So far, JV hadn’t dropped a set! Congratulations to JV doubles player Josie Beckhoff, who won 6-1 in a singles match.

JV welcomed many new freshmen this year. That’s all for girls’ tennis this year, but make sure to support the boys when they begin their season in the Spring!
