Why Have There Been So Many Plane Crashes in America?

The internet has been buzzing with all the plane crashes that have been happening in the span of a month in the United States of America. As of February 10th, 2025 there have been 4 deadly plane crashes that began on January 29th, 2025. Many people are already saying what an eerie and bad year 2025 is going to be after the crazy start with the California wildfires, the new weird feeling of TikTok, and now these crashes.

On January 29th, according to the New York Times, “an American Airlines regional jet collided with an Army helicopter near Ronald Reagan National Airport.” The army helicopter was a Black Hawk that is used in the army, which contributed to some peoples’ paranoia as they believed a helicopter that is only flown by someone skilled should never crash into a plane with many people. This crash resulted in 67 deaths and a wave of shock to take over America who was still recovering from the fires in California. President Trump then decided to hold a press conference to talk about the crash where he blamed the Federal Aviation Administration, F.A.A.

Two days later, on January 31st another crash took place in Philadelphia. According to Fox4News, “A medical jet crash in Philadelphia killed seven people. The Learjet generated a massive fireball when it smashed into the ground in a neighborhood not long after taking off from a small airport nearby.” After hearing of the role of the F.A.A in the first crash, many were then concerned about their lack of oversight in this crash as well. It also doesn’t help their case that these crashes were so close together after not having an American aviator crash since 1999.

Then, on February 6th 2025, another deadly crash took place in Alaska and killed all 9 passengers on the flight and the pilot who was the only person part of the crew on board. There appears to be a pattern with the smaller planes that are getting lost and then crashing, whereas the American Airlines plane was crashed into. According to Scarlet Law Group, “small aircraft frequently sit parked in a hangar for prolonged periods, whereas commercial planes are always in use, minimizing the risk of something getting stuck over time, not only are commercial planes flown more often, but they are also inspected much more diligently, and after/before every flight. That doesn’t always happen with private and small airplanes, and mechanical failure is actually one of the main causes behind major crashes.” Commercial flights take more precautions because they carry a much larger amount of people compared to small jets, which automatically gives them an advantage when looking at the facts of why smaller airplanes are more likely to have problems. This is then further proved in the 4th plane crash that happened on February 10th, in Scottsdale, Arizona.

For this fourth and most recent crash, only the pilot was killed and 4 others were injured. It is said that once the plane had already landed in Arizona from Dallas, Texas, it began to veer off the runway and collide with a parked plane. The investigation as to why this happened is still ongoing as it has been discovered that the man flying the plane was a very qualified war veteran pilot, so they don’t believe it was human error.

All of these crashes have caused people to be hyper aware and scared of flying. With all the life-altering events that have happened since 2025 started, only a month ago, no one believes that these crashes are a conscience. Many people are even coming up with conspiracy theories as to why something like this could happen, and some even speculate that it could be terrorism just like the act of terrorism in New Orleans, on Bourbon Street. As many of the investigations are still an ongoing process, America must wait to see the real reasons for these deadly crashes and stop speculating on the internet.
